Replacement Connector Instructions - PULL TO SEAT

HOW TO REPLACE CONNECTORS:

PULL TO SEAT CONNECTORS -

In the Below article, we go through a step by step guide on replacing worn, broken or damaged Pull to Seat connectors. This information applies to all Pull to Seat LS connectors which can be purchased from our shop HERE

  1. Before you begin, ensure the new connector is the correct part. Inspect them side by side and if necessary, insert the unpinned new connector in the intended sensor. The most import thing to know about Pull To Seat Connectors is that the wires must be crimped to the terminals AFTER being passed through the connector. Be very careful with the following steps as once the terminals are seated, they cannot be effectively removed.

  2. To start, cut the entire old connector off the branch, leaving enough wire tails hanging out as to be able to correctly identify the colours coming from each cavity.
  3. Carefully feed the wires THROUGH the new connector, ensuring the colour orientation matches the old connector as per the image below
  4. Once fed through, strip roughly 3mm insulation from the wire to reveal the conductor strands.
  5. Insert the wire into the terminals. The copper, conductor strands should match up with the smaller, longer open part of the terminal while there should be a small amount of plastic, insulator for the end of the terminal to crimp onto, as per below.
  6. Firmly crimp the terminal using the appropriate die on the open barrel crimping tool. Lightly pull on the terminal to ensure the crimp has been executed properly. Repeat for all remaining terminals. The resulting crimps should look like the following image;
  7. Once complete, pull the wires back through the connector until an audible click is heard. If this click is not easily achieved, rotate the orientation of the terminal. The old connector may be used as a guide.
